Little Rock Athletics Continues to Excel in Graduating Student-Athletes

The NCAA's latest Graduate Success Rate numbers were released Wednesday, and Little Rock Athletics continues to graduate student-athletes at a high level.

"I am exceptionally proud of the academic achievements of our 275 Student-Athletes," said Frank M. Cuervo, Little Rock's Director of Athletics. "Our goal is to produce Champions for Life - in the classroom, in the community, and in competition. Trojan Student-Athletes are among the best and the brightest on this campus, and I congratulate them on their continued success."

For the period of 2014-2017, the program recorded a GSR of 87%. Women's golf owned the highest mark with a 100%, while Women's Swimming and diving recorded a 96% rate. Trojan Baseball totaled 94%, Women's Basketball recorded a 93% rate and Women's Track and Field turned in a 91% GSR. In the past academic year, the department totaled a 3.31 GPA. That marks 22 consecutive semesters Little Rock has achieved a GPA of 3.0 or greater.

The NCAA GSR is designed to show the proportion of student-athletes on any given team who earn a college degree. The NCAA has imposed academic standards to hold teams and institutions accountable for how well a student-athlete progresses toward a degree. The GSR takes into account incoming transfers who graduate from a different institution than the one in which they began and transfers who leave an institution in good standing.

The GSR starts with all freshmen who enter college in a given year. Not included are those athletes who leave in good academic standing, while including those who transfer into the institution and go on to graduate. The GSR better accounts for the high mobility of students.
