CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Little Rock couldn't recover from an eight-minute, first-half scoreless stretch in a 92-34 loss to Illinois at State Farm Arena Monday night.
The Trojans (3-4) only trailed 20-13 following Jordan Jefferson's three-pointer with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half. However, the Illini (5-1) scored 21 unanswered points to break the game open. Illinois led 45-15 with 2:27 left. Little Rock trailed 51-19 at halftime.
The second half didn't get much better for the Trojans as Illinois began the second half with a 16-6 run and led by 42 points with just under 11 minutes to go in the game.
Jefferson led Little Rock with 11 points. Illinois' Jakucionis Kasparas led all scorers with 19 points.
The good news for Little Rock is a six-game road swing is over, and it won't play a road game until January. The Trojans will have a quick turnaround as they play host to Maryland-Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. Wednesday. MES (2-5) lost to Illinois 87-40 on Saturday and Arkansas 109-35 on Monday. The Hawks haven't won a road game this season.
