After the final home match of 2024, Little Rock goes undefeated in the Jack Stephens Center for the year after beating UT Chattanooga 32-6. With wins over Arizona State, Cal Poly, Bakersfield, SIUE, Central Missouri, Nebraska-Kearney, Central Michigan, and now UT Chattanooga, 2024 will be remembered as the year the Trojans defended the Jack.
How It Happened
It all started with
Tyson Roach getting a 14-6 major decision over Tyler Tice. The freshman 125 pounder toppled Tice with 2 early take downs and a near fall. After a late takedown in the 3rd, Roach secured his first major decision victory of his career.
Nasir Bailey fell to Blake Boarman which tied the score at 4; but,
Jayden Gomez stepped to the mat to put the Trojans back on top. Gomez turned the momentum back to the Trojans with a 16-8 major decision over Eli Knight. It was close until the third round which saw a furry of take downs from Gomez.
In his much anticipated Trojan debut,
Jordan Williams lived up to all of his hype. Williams beat Dayne Dalrymple by decision 9-2 after a bit of a slow start. The Oklahoma State transfer got going late with 3rd round take downs to solidify the win.
The Bianchi brothers went back-to-back with wins as Matty beat Cavarius Liddie by decision 5-0 and Joey pinning Jackson Hurst in 3:44. Matty and Joey curved all momentum in favor of the Trojans heading into the final stretch.
Tyler Brennan fell in SV1 by a score of 6-3 after a late take down, but
Brock DelSignore put Little Rock back on track with a decision victory 10-6.
Stephen Little then won by tech fall 24-9 (4:40).
KJ Miley concluded the dual with a 10-2 major decision over Ethan Vergara to push the Trojans to a 32-7 victory.
