PHOENIX, AZ - Several freshmen achieved career milestones as Maria Schuller scored her first career goal, Ruth Barragan earned a spot in the starting XI, and Emily Hauk made her collegiate debut.
How It Happened
Grand Canyon jumped out to a quick start with a goal in the 3rd minute of the match. The score remained 1-0 until the 32nd minute, when the Lopes added another goal. The Trojans ended the first half facing a 2-goal deficit. The second half mirrored the first, with Grand Canyon adding two more goals in the 56th and 68th minutes.
Despite the deficit, the Trojans fought until the end. In the 74th minute, Jaeda Centeno sent a cross to freshman Maria Schuller, who finished the play with her first career goal, marking the Trojans' first goal of the season. This is the second consecutive year that a freshman scored the Trojans' first goal of the season, following Candice Kilderry's goal against Florida Atlantic last year.

In addition to Schuller, two other freshmen reached career milestones. Ruth Barragan earned her first start, playing 66 minutes in the Trojans' midfield. Emily Hauk made her collegiate debut as a substitute in the 74th minute, recording 5 saves with no goals allowed.
