AUSTIN, TX. – Little Rock sprinter Olivia Elgin is set to compete in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2025 Toyota U.S. Open Championships this week at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin.
The four-day meet runs Wednesday, December 3 through Saturday, December 6 and will be contested in long course meters. The U.S. Open is one of USA Swimming's premier national meets and serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Beijing, bringing together a deep and competitive field from across the country.
Elgin will race the 100 freestyle on the final day of the meet, Saturday, December 6, entering the event ranked 42nd with a seed time of 56.74. Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. and will determine advancement to the evening finals session, which begins at 6 p.m. Central.
"I'm really excited to race the 100 free at the U.S. Open in Austin this weekend and to represent Little Rock. This meet is a great opportunity to see where my training is and to compete against some of the fastest swimmers out there. I'm especially grateful to be here after recovering from surgery in August, it's been a challenging couple of months, but they have reminded me how much I love this sport and what I'm capable of. I'm so thankful for my teammates and the support system around me and their encouragement has pushed me through the season so far. We have had so much fun together this year and I am really looking forward to the rest of it!! My focus now is to just stay present, trust myself and the work I've put in, and just enjoy the process and have fun!" said Olivia Elgin.
