LITTLE ROCK — With a new coach and a large group of new runners, the Little Rock Cross Country has officially released its competition schedule for the 2025 season, with four meets on the calendar leading into the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in October.
Â
Little Rock begins the season Aug. 30 at the UCA Bear Invitational in Conway as part of the Governor's I-40 Showdown before heading to Searcy for the Steve Guymon Invitational on Sept. 12. The Trojans will also compete at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville and Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. during the month of October.
Â
I'm very excited for our athletes to come back to campus and get started on the 2025 season. We have some key talent back with us and good leadership to help bring up the team this year, which I'm looking forward to developing throughout the season," Little Rock Cross Country coach
Jordyn Naylon said. "We have brought back the Chile Pepper Festival to the schedule due to popular demand from the athletes because of its great competition and fast course. Our main focus as a team is a strong, supportive culture and commitment to be the best we can be and have fun doing it. I'm looking forward to working with the team and see how we perform throughout the season."
Â
The OVC Championship is slated for Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Charleston, Ill., with the NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville on Nov. 15 and the NCAA National Championships on Nov. 22 in Columbia, Mo.
Â
The Trojans return 10 runners (five men, five women) and added six more (four women, two men) for the upcoming season. Last year the women finished fourth at the OVC meet while the men came in fifth.
