Trojans Dominate with 7-0 Rout for 13th Straight Win over UAPB

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Little Rock scored seven as it rolled past Arkansas-Pine Bluff. It is the Trojans' 13th straight win against the Golden Lions and second straight 7-0 win. It was also their seventh straight shutout over UAPB.

The sweltering Sunday heat and heavy humidity couldn't slow the Trojans. From the opening whistle, Little Rock dictated the tempo, controlling possession and relentlessly driving the ball deep into the Golden Lions' box, putting early pressure on the defense.

The Golden Lions' defense finally broke when Amaya Arias and Maria Schuller scored back-to-back goals to go up 2-0 within the first 20 minutes. Schuller then added an assist to Candice Kilderry's first goal of the season to make it 3-0, and the rest was history.

After halftime, sub Maggie Turner immediately made an impact with two goals from inside the box. Sub Jaeda Centeno also had one goal. Finally, Arias added her second of the game to make it 7-0 with 10 minutes to go on a deflected shot off the keeper.

"It was amazing. In the first game we had against Arkansas State, I was trying to get those goals and getting shots in. Now I've finally got those two goals, and I'm gonna keep on going," Arias said.

Little Rock came into the day with big expectations and a rigid game plan from head coach Kelly Farrell, and the team executed it perfectly.

"It was a decisive win; I feel like we had a few more in us; we could've been more clinical in front of goal. But we obviously executed the game plan really well when you score seven and get a shutout, so you can't be upset about that," Farrell said.

Little Rock ended the game with an insane 45 shots (17 on goal) and 13 corners.

The Trojans have 10 days off, then they head to Monroe, La., to play the University of Louisiana-Monroe War Hawks on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The game will kick off at 6 p.m.
