Margaritha’s numbers over the weekend were staggering as she hammered down 46 kills on 80 attempts with just five errors, for a whopping .513 attack percentage. She had at least 12 kills in all three matches and set a new personal single-game mark with 17 against East Texas A&M, a number she duplicated in the next contest with Providence.
Her .667 attack percentage during the win over East Texas A&M ranks third in program history during the rally scoring era. She also hit .391 vs North Texas and .485 against Providence. In addition to her hitting, she totaled 14 blocks, with at least four in every match. Margaritha finished the weekend with 54 total points – 19.5 in each of the last two contests.
In the first edition of the weekly awards this season, senior Jaycee Kennedy finished second in Defensive Player of the Week voting, junior Dariana Valencia was fourth in Setter of the Week, and Avery Fearnley was seventh for Freshman of the Week.
