LITTLE ROCK — The Little Rock Wrestling program keeps getting stronger, as evidenced by the recent hiring of assistant coach Kai Orine, a two-time NCAA All-American at North Carolina State.
Orine joins the wrestling coaching staff for his first year of coaching after a decorated career as both a student-athlete and competitor on the national stage. At NC State, he graduated as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in program history. A four-time NCAA qualifier, he was also an NCAA All-American and ACC champion in both 2023 and 2024.
"It didn't take long to see the value Kai brings. He has hit the ground running with energy, intensity, and a genuine passion for coaching. I'm thrilled to have him on our staff and to see him grow into a great coach." — Little Rock head coach Neil Erisman
In addition to his success on the mat, he also excelled in the classroom, earning a bachelor's degree in Art and Design while being named a four-time Academic All-American.
As he transitions into coaching, Orine brings with him not only the technical expertise of a proven competitor but also the leadership qualities of a mentor dedicated to athlete development. He is eager to help continue the growth of Little Rock wrestling while instilling the same values of discipline, hard work, and perseverance that defined his own career.
"As an athlete, I got to watch from the outside the achievements and progress this program was able to accomplish in such a short time, and I was very impressed, so to see and be a part of it now, everything makes sense. I'm every bit thankful and excited to be here and continue my wrestling career. I'm ready to translate the passion and intensity I had for competing directly into coaching, bringing out the very best in our athletes." — Assistant coach Kai Orine
A native of Imperial, Missouri, Orine is a role model to his younger brothers Draegen, Kaemen, and Jace. His wrestling journey began in Missouri, where he quickly rose to prominence at the high school level. Competing for Seckman High School, Orine became a three-time Missouri state champion and four-time state placer. He also earned national recognition as a Fargo All-American (5th), Super 32 placer (5th), Ironman placer (3rd), Flo Nationals finalist, and NHSCA National Champion.
