After beginning the season battling a challenging course and field, it doesn't get any easier for the Trojan women's golf team.
Little Rock will play in the Leadership & Golf Invitational hosted by Seattle University. The tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday at the iconic Chambers Bay, located southwest of Tacoma, Wash., on the Puget Sound.
"[The tournament] is another challenge with a golf course renowned for its difficulty and playing a tough field in a different environment out west," Little Rock head coach
Jenna Birch said.
Birch said her team has been focused after its season-opening tournament at Purdue.
"We didn't play as well as we wanted there, but I have seen a higher level of dedication and commitment in practice since then," Birch said. "That course was difficult and the field challenging. I think we learned a lot from that tournament."
Birch is excited to see how the resilience shown in practice will carry over to the second tournament.
"That's what I am waiting to see – will these last 12 days translate to this tournament," Birch said.
Birch noted that sophomore Elvira Flodström has taken on a leadership role as a returner, which has been noticeable as the team has prepared for Monday.
"I am super excited to see how [Flodström] does," Birch said. "She has a bigger role on this team than last year, and she's become a front-runner."
