Johnathan Lawson was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, becoming the first Little Rock Trojan to earn the honor this season, after leading the Trojans to a pair of road victories at SIUE and Lindenwood.
Lawson averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in the two wins while shooting 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from the field and 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the free-throw line.
"Johnathan set the standard for us last week," said Little Rock head coach
Darrell Walker. "He made winning plays on both ends of the floor, stayed composed in big moments, and led us when we needed it most. That's what Player of the Week performances look like."
Lawson opened the week with a standout effort at SIUE, scoring 23 points with five assists and two steals while playing all 40 minutes. He was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line, including four free throws in the final 1:44, as Little Rock rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit to earn a 73–70 victory.
"We just stayed together," Lawson said. "We knew if we kept defending and trusted our offense, we'd give ourselves a chance. Everyone stepped up, and I was just trying to be solid and make the right reads."
He followed with another strong all-around performance at Lindenwood, finishing with 20 points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block to help secure the road sweep.
"Winning on the road in this league is never easy," Lawson added. "To come back home with two wins means a lot, and it shows the toughness of this group."
On the season, Lawson ranks among the OVC leaders, sitting third in three-pointers made (2.6 per game), fourth in assists (4.1), fifth in scoring (16.7) and free-throw percentage (82.6%), seventh in steals (1.8), and ninth in field-goal percentage (41.4%).
