LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Due to a major winter storm forecast for this weekend, the Trojan basketball doubleheader at UT Martin scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, has been postponed.
The games will now be played on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the men scheduled to follow at 7:30 p.m.
Ten to 15 inches of snow are forecast for the Martin, Tenn., area. As of Thursday morning, the Little Rock area was already under a Winter Storm Warning, with a mix of snow, sleet, and ice expected.
"The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans is always our top priority," said Little Rock Director of Athletics Frank M. Cuervo. "Given the forecasted weather conditions, postponing the games were the responsible decision. I appreciate UT Martin Director of Athletics Kurt McGuffin and Acting OVC Commissioner Greg Walter for working collaboratively with us to reach a sensible solution that prioritizes safety while allowing the games to be rescheduled." Â
The Trojans' games scheduled for Thursday at SEMO in Cape Girardeau, Mo., will be played as scheduled. The women will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. at the Show Me Center.
