CORVALLIS, Ore. — Little Rock had three wrestlers earn wins Friday night during its Pac-12 dual at Oregon State, but the host Beavers pulled away for a 29-10 victory inside Gill Coliseum.
Brock Herman,
Matty Bianchi, and
Michael Gasper each had their hand raised for the No. 14 Trojans. Oregon State, ranked No. 19 by FloWrestling, secured the Pac-12 dual title with the win after defeating all three conference opponents this season.
Little Rock will look to bounce back next weekend when it returns home to host No. 15 Missouri on Jan. 31 at the Jack Stephens Center.
"It was a tough night," head coach
Neil Erisman said. "We didn't compete well overall, and even in the matches we won, we didn't compete to dominate. We're looking for a change in attitude and perspective, and once we do, we'll be fine."
Herman provided one of the night's highlights with a major decision over Noah Tolentino in a matchup of ranked wrestlers at 149 pounds. Herman scored three takedowns and outscored Tolentino 17-4.
Bianchi and Gasper both capitalized on first-period takedowns to earn decision victories. Bianchi posted a 4-1 win at 165 pounds to improve to 15-0 on the season and 10-0 in dual competition. Gasper closed the dual with a 4-2 decision at heavyweight, continuing a recent surge with his sixth win in the past eight matches.
