Parker Named OVC Pitcher of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After a dominant performance on the mound that helped Little Rock secure a key conference series win, Brigden Parker has been named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.

"It's an honor to be named Pitcher of the Week," Parker said. "It wouldn't have been possible without the culmination of the offense generating runs early and the defense making great plays behind me all afternoon. Pitching with a lead really allows me to throw with freedom and just go right at the hitter. Combine that with [catcher Trey Hill] being a wall behind the dish for me, and it makes my job pretty easy."

Parker, a redshirt senior left-hander from Holly, Colo., turned in one of the Trojans' top outings of the season, tossing 7.0 shutout innings in a 6-0 win over Southern Indiana on Saturday. The victory evened the series and shifted momentum in Little Rock's favor, as the Trojans went on to win the series.

Facing one of the top offensive teams in the country, Parker allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking three. He recorded two strikeouts looking and consistently worked ahead in counts, finishing with 53 strikes on 89 pitches.

Parker posted a 0.00 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in his appearance, improving to 1-0 on the season.

"We are proud of Brigden and how hard he has worked to put himself in this position," Little Rock head coach Chris Curry said.

The Trojans went 3-1 on the week, including a 7-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and a 2-1 series victory over Southern Indiana.
