LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Volleyball has added a nationally experienced coach with a championship résumé to its staff, with the hiring of Mike Becker as Associate Head Coach.
The addition strengthens a Trojan program on the rise, with Becker bringing experience from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Missouri Valley Conference along with a proven track record in player development, scouting and recruiting.
Mike Becker joins the Trojans after serving on staff at West Virginia, where he worked in video analysis, scouting and player development. Prior to that, he spent a season at Iowa as an assistant coach and Director of Volleyball Video Analytics, overseeing practice and gameday video, managing advanced analytics and providing in-match statistical breakdowns of both the Hawkeyes and their opponents. He also helped design camp programming and assisted with recruiting strategy and creative content.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mike Becker to Little Rock Volleyball as the Associate Head Coach," Aubrey Becker said. "This program will greatly benefit from his elite training and player development abilities."
For Mike Becker, the opportunity is both professionally exciting and personally meaningful.
"Joining the Little Rock volleyball program is an incredible opportunity," he said. "I am excited to work with our student-athletes, support the vision of the program and help build a championship culture."
Before Iowa, Becker served as an assistant coach at Michigan State, where he was the program's lead scout and helped design individualized and team training plans. He previously spent three successful seasons at Illinois State, helping the Redbirds win three consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships. During that stretch, Illinois State made three NCAA Tournament appearances (2018–21) and captured two regular-season conference titles.
Becker worked primarily with blocking and defensive systems while leading opponent scouting efforts. Under his guidance, Illinois State led the conference in both blocking and opponent hitting percentage in each of his three seasons.
His impact has already been recognized nationally. In 2021, Becker earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 Award, which honors the top young coaches across all levels of the sport.
Prior to Illinois State, Becker spent three seasons as Director of Operations at Pitt, helping the Panthers reach the NCAA Tournament each year — the program's longest postseason streak since the 1990s.
He also brings strong club experience, serving as head coach at Pacific Coast Volleyball Club (2014–16) and Delta Valley Volleyball Club (2013–14), where he coached 18-U teams and helped develop high-level collegiate prospects.
In addition to his coaching background, Becker worked in athletic development at the University of the Pacific, serving as Coordinator of Athletics Development and later Annual Giving Manager. In those roles, he helped grow fundraising initiatives, strengthen donor engagement and support athletic department campaigns.
A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Becker was a standout student-athlete at Springfield College from 2009–13. He helped lead Springfield to three NCAA Division III National Championships (2010, 2012, 2013) and a national runner-up finish in 2011. Becker was named team MVP during the 2013 championship run under legendary coach Charlie Sullivan.
"Mike brings championship experience as both a player and coach, elite recruiting and scouting strategies, and an unmatched work ethic to the Trojans," Aubrey Becker said.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Springfield in 2013 and a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from the University of the Pacific in 2016.
With Mike Becker joining the staff as Associate Head Coach, the Trojans add a proven recruiter, elite scout and championship-tested coach as the program enters the United Athletic Conference.
"Little Rock is a vibrant and beautiful city with so much to offer our family and recruits," Becker said. "I look forward to representing Little Rock and will work tirelessly to make the university, community and alumni proud."
