Little Rock does more than just develop quality student-athletes, it also has established a reputation for developing high quality coaches. With several coaches either moving on to great success elsewhere or establishing legendary careers while leading Little Rock’s Team, the Trojans continue to churn out great leaders as part of the Coaching Factory.
Mark Adams
Assistant Coach: 2015-16
Mark Adams spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant on Chris Beard’s staff at Little Rock, helping to take the Trojans to a Sun Belt title and NCAA Tournament upset of Purdue before following Beard to Texas Tech. Adams and Beard led the Red Raiders to the NCAA Championship Game in 2019 as well as an Elite Eight performance in 2018 then took over the Texas Tech program in 2021 when Beard left to become the head coach at Texas.
Chris Beard
Head Coach: 2015-16
Chris Beard’s first head coaching job on the Division I level came at Little Rock and he had a short, but impactful stay in Arkansas’ capital city. In his one season guiding the Trojans, Beard took Little Rock’s Team to a 30-5 mark, Sun Belt regular season and tournament championship and gained Cinderella status as the Trojans upended Purdue in the NCAA Tournament.
Beard went on to take Texas Tech to the NCAA Championship Game in 2019 as well as an Elite Eight performance in 2018 before taking the head coach job at Texas in 2021.
Solomon Bozeman
Assistant Coach: 2016-18
A Little Rock graduate, former letterwinner and assistant coach at Little Rock, Solomon Bozeman became one of the youngest head coaches in the nation when UA-Pine Bluff named him head coach in the summer of 2021. Prior to his time as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Bozeman served on the staff of fellow Coaching Factory product Joe Golding at Abilene Christian. After spending two seasons guiding the Trojans, he went on to Oral Roberts where he led the Golden Eagles to the Sweet 16 in 2021 as an assistant coach before getting named head coach in Pine Bluff.
Brian Burg
Assistant Coach: 2015-16
Brian Burg spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant on Chris Beard’s staff at Little Rock, helping to take the Trojans to a Sun Belt title and NCAA Tournament upset of Purdue before following Beard to Texas Tech. Burg and Beard led the Red Raiders to the NCAA Championship Game in 2019 as well as an Elite Eight performance in 2018 before he was named the head coach at Georgia Southern in 2020.
Joe Golding
Assistant Coach: 2008-11
Joe Golding was an assistant coach at Little Rock for three seasons, leading the Trojans to a Sun Belt West Division title in his first season (2009) and a Sun Belt Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in his last season (2011) with the Trojans. Golding would be named the head coach at Abilene Christian following that NCAA Tournament appearance and spent 10 seasons with the Wildcats, guiding Abilene Christian to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances (2019, 2021) including a first round upset of Texas in 2021 before he was named the head coach at UTEP in the summer of 2021.
Porter Moser
Head Coach: 2000-03
Assistant Coach: 1998-2000
Head coach of the Trojans from 2000-03, he guided Little Rock to three straight seasons of 18 wins and posted a .614 winning percentage. Following his time at Little Rock, he went on to guide Illinois State for four seasons before eventually taking over the Loyola (Chicago) program, leading the Ramblers to the Final Four in 2018 and the Sweet 16 in 2021. He is now head coach of Oklahoma.
Daniyal Robinson
Administrative Assistant: 2000-03
Assistant Coach: 2007-08
Daniyal Robinson's career in collegiate basketball got its start in Little Rock as he served as an administrative assistant for the men's basketball program under Porter Moser from 2000-03 and then returned to the Capital City as an assistant coach for the 2007-08 season. During his season on Steve Shields' staff, Robinson helped guide the Trojans to a 20-11 mark (11-7 Sun Belt) and a Sun Belt West Division Championship. Robinson was named head coach at Cleveland State beginning with the 2022-23 season. He is an alumnus of UA Little Rock and was a two-year standout letterwinner for the Trojans from 1996-98.

Van Compton, Volleyball
Head Coach: 1988-Present
With over 625 career wins, four regular season Sun Belt titles, five Sun Belt Tournament championships and five appearances in the NCAA Tournament, Van Compton has established herself as the queen among all coaches. The Sun Belt’s all-time winningest volleyball coach, she will enter the 2022 season ranked 23
rd among active Division I coaches in career wins.
Joe Foley, Women’s Basketball
Head Coach: 2003-Present
Joe Foley, the 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2018 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and 2010 Russell Athletic/WBCA Regional Coach of the Year, has led the Little Rock Women’s Basketball program to 20-win seasons in 11 of the last 14 years, outright Sun Belt Conference West Division titles in the final six years the Sun Belt had divisions, three Sun Belt regular-season championships, post-season appearances in 10 of the last 13 years – including five NCAA berths – and Sun Belt Conference Tournament titles in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2018. Foley has recorded an 833-295 (.738) career record and a 377-214 (.638) record at Little Rock as he begins his 19th season in 2021-22. Foley, the Sun Belt’s all-time winningest women’s basketball coach, has led the Trojans to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament in 15 of the past 16 years. He enters the 2022-23 season ranking third among active Division I head coaches in career wins with 833 victories, behind only Tara VanDerveer (Stanford) and Geno Auriemma (UConn).
