Andrea Angel joined the Department of Athletics as Director of Sales
in July of 2005 and was promoted to Senior Women's Administrator in July of
2007. In March of 2011, she was named the department's Director of Athletic Development
while maintaining her role as SWA. A native of Anderson, Ind., Angel
experienced first-hand what the university has to offer a student-athlete,
having graduated magna cum laude from UALR in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in
marketing while earning four letters as a member of the Trojan golf team.
In
her role as SWA, Angel serves as the spokesperson for the needs and
interests of women within the department. She oversees the Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC) and community service projects involving UALR
student-athletes, and organizes the department's senior banquet and etiquette
dinner. As part of the senior banquet, Angel produces a resume book
showcasing graduating student-athletes to prospective employers.
In
addition, Angel is responsible for the department's Ambassador Program and
supervises the UALR dance team and spirit squads. During the 2007-08
season, Angel served as the Tournament Manager as UALR hosted two rounds
of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship at Alltel Arena. Due to
her experience with the 2008 NCAA Tournament, Angel will serve as Tournament
Manager again for the First and Second Rounds of the 2012 NCAA Women's
Basketball Championship at the Jack
Stephens Center
on March 18 and 20. She will oversee all day-to-day functions in planning the
tournament games and will be the main point of contact for all needs associated
with the tournament games.
As
Director of Athletic Development, Angel is heavily involved in fundraising with
a goal of assuring the long-term financial support of the university's athletic
programs. She is also responsible for overseeing the annual SpectacUALR event,
which raises an average of $190,000 per year for the needs of UALR student-athletes.
Angel oversees all major gifts as well as the annual fund for the Trojan Athletic
Foundation (TAF), and works closely with the TAF's Board of Directors.
Before
coming to UALR, Angel was the outside sales representative for Southern
Coating and Nameplate, Inc. That position followed jobs as a field sales
manager and an assistant district manager with Vector Marketing Corporation.
As
an undergraduate at UALR, Angel was named the 2002 marketing student of
the year by the UALR faculty and was also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma
business honor's society. On top of that, Angel was a three-year captain
on the golf team and received a Sun Belt Conference academic award in 2002.
Angel
and her husband, David, reside in Little
Rock, Ark.
