Gary Hogan brings a wealth of knowledge to his role as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations at UALR. Before moving into athletic administration, Hogan was head baseball coach for 11 years (1986-97), and was sports director at Little Rock's CBS affiliate, KTHV-TV for nine years before that.
As head baseball coach, Hogan is the program's all-time winningest coach and set a school record for wins in a season. He also left an impression off the field as well, raising more than $500,000 in cash and services as he rebuilt the baseball program and its facilities. During Hogan's tenure, Curran Conway Park saw the construction of an indoor batting facility, new scoreboard, dugouts and dressing rooms; the landscaping of the area surrounding the field; an artificial turf infield; and a new outdoor fence with advertising billboards, which provided a continuing source of revenue for the program.
Hogan now uses his fundraising abilities as UALR's associate athletic director. He handles all marketing aspects of the athletic program, forging partnerships with many prominent Little Rock businesses.
While at KTHV, Hogan won an Associated Press Sports Broadcast Award and produced numerous St. Louis Cardinal baseball and University of Arkansas football and basketball programs.
Before his time at KTHV, Hogan was an award-winning sports director at WTVM in Columbus, Georgia.
After a successful junior college baseball career, Hogan spent two years in the Chicago Cubs organization.
Hogan is married to the former Heidi Denman of Stuttgart, Ark. The couple has two children; Gary Jr., who pitched for the University of Arkansas and the Texas Rangers baseball organization; and Alyssa. Alyssa and her husband Ryan Tucker have one daughter, Rae Lyn.
