Matthew Lofton begins his second year in the UALR Department of Athletics after being hired as the Sports Information Assistant in Aug. 2012. Lofton will serve as the primary contact for the UALR volleyball, swimming and diving and baseball teams in 2013-14.
In his first year at UALR, Lofton served as the primary contact for volleyball, swimming and diving, women’s basketball and outdoor track and field, while also providing assistance with soccer, men’s basketball and baseball. He handled all sports information and media responsibilities as the primary contact for the UALR women’s basketball team, which made its sixth-straight postseason appearance with a bid to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
Lofton joined the Trojans' sports information staff after spending the 2010-11 year as Assistant Sports Information Director at Tiffin University, where he served as the primary contact for the Dragon baseball, men's basketball, volleyball and track and field teams. Prior to his time at Tiffin, Lofton worked as a graduate assistant and intern on the athletic communications staff at Kent State from 2007-10 while obtaining his master's degree in Sports and Recreation Management. Lofton worked with a multitude of sports in his time with the Flashes, including the nationally successful wrestling and baseball teams in 2008-09.
Prior to Kent State, Lofton worked as a student assistant in the sports information office at Heidelberg University while obtaining a double-major in Sports Management and Communications.
