Head athletic trainer Michael Switlik is in his second tour of duty with UALR, having previously worked at the university from 2000 to 2002 before rejoining the Trojans in the summer of 2003. Switlik serves as the primary athletic trainer for men’s basketball, cross country/track and field, and both golf teams.
Between his stints at UALR, Switlik worked for a year as an industrial rehab coordinator for HealthSouth of Little Rock. He was head trainer at the University of Arkansas-Monticello in 1999-2000, and has also worked for Arkansas Sports Medicine and the Arkansas GlacierCats minor league hockey team.
A native of Little Rock, Switlik graduated from Catholic High in 1990, and went on to earn his bachelor’s of science in athletic training at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 1995 and a master’s of science in sports psychology from Springfield College in 1997.
Switlik is married to the former Margaret Schultz of Norwich, N.Y. The couple was married in Sherburne, N.Y., on February 11, 2013 and will reside in Little Rock, Ark.
