Was ranked in the top-5 percent of his class academically at Redlands CC ... Originally signed with Oklahoma State out of high school.

High School: Earned Oklahoma Player of the Year honors as a senior at Yukon High School in 2008 ... Also received First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors ... Hit .457 with 14 homers and 56 RBI as a senior for the Millers ... Played for head coach Kevin James.
