Shannon Norris enters her first season as assistant coach for the UALR track and field team after a successful track career at Mount Saint Mary’s University.
The Lancaster, Pa. native competed four years on the track and field team where she competed in sprints, hurdles, and multi-events.
Norris holds the Mount Saint Mary’s University record in the 100-meter hurdles and won the event twice at the Northeast Conference Championships. She also has been recognized as a record holder in three other events as well as being mentioned 15 times on the all-time records lists.
Norris won conference medals in the indoor 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 200 meters, and 4x400 meter relay and in the outdoor 100 meters, 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 4x100 meter relay, and 4x400 meter relay.
In 2005 and 2006, Norris qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 100-meter hurdles.
Norris graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University in May of 2006 with bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in art education.
