Wilson previously was Little Rock's at-risk academic advisor from August 2011 until July 2014 where she was responsible for overseeing the academic progress of at-risk student-athletes.
At Little Rock, Wilson coordinated the student-athlete advisory council along with supporting gender equity and Title IX initiatives as assistant athletics director for academics and SWA. As the at-risk academic advisor, Wilson counseled student-athletes on academics while assisting with class schedules, development and delivery of learning strategies, consulting with coaches and faculty on student-athlete academic progress, weekly tutoring sessions, and monitoring student-athlete study hall and academic progress. Under her direction, Little Rock boasted the highest GSR of all Division I institutions in Arkansas with a 93 percent graduation rate. In addition, 67 percent of the student-athletes had a cumulative grade point average above 3.0 in the fall 2013 semester. Wilson also assisted with the organization of Little Rock’s annual athletic fundraising event (SpectacUALR) along with organizing “Play for Kay” and etiquette student-athlete and senior dinners.
Wilson arrived at Little Rock in August 2006 and spent one year as an assistant coach for the Trojans’ men’s and women’s tennis teams before being promoted to head women’s tennis coach in August 2007. During her tenure, Little Rock received both the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Team Academic Award and Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honor four consecutive seasons (2008-12) apiece while producing a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selection twice (2009-10 and 2010-11) and an Academic All-America honoree (2011). Wilson, who served as Little Rock’s head coach until May 2013, initiated the development and managed the Little Rock Tennis After School clinic.
A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Wilson was a four-year (2003-06) letter-winner in women’s tennis at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She won five individual North Central Conference (NCC) titles overall with two (2004 and 2006) occurring in singles competition. She helped lead the Mavericks to conference championships in both 2005 and 2006. Nebraska-Omaha competed in NCAA regional competition all four years of her career and advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2005. Wilson concluded her Nebraska-Omaha career as the program’s all-time leader in winning percentage (.651) . The two-year (2005-06) team captain ranks tied for third place on the Mavericks’ all-time lists in career doubles (52) and single-season wins (17 in 2004-05), while her 41 career singles victories are fourth most in school history.
Wilson is a 2006 graduate of Nebraska-Omaha and earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a double minor in psychology and sociology. She attained a Master of Science degree in sports management from Little Rock in December 2007. Wilson earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in education with a specialization in sport management and leadership at North Central University in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
A graduate of Lincoln (Nebraska) Southeast High School, Wilson was a 2001 state high school tennis champion in doubles and a member of the 2000 Nebraska Class A State Championship team.
