Emilia Martínez

Emilia Martinez, originally from Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, has always had swimming at the heart of her life, thanks to her family's swimming school in her hometown. In 2020, she moved to the United States to join the swimming team at the University of the Cumberlands, where she competed until 2024. Throughout her collegiate career, Emilia played a key role in the success of the women’s team, contributing to their victories in the 9th through 12th Conference Titles.

In 2021, Emilia was honored as an NAIA All-American and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, achievements that reflect both her athletic and academic excellence. She earned Dean’s List status for four consecutive years and consistently ranked in the top 8 in the Mid-South Conference across at least one event each season. She was also named Mid-South Academic All-Conference. For the 2023-2024 season, Emilia earned second-team honors as a CSCAA Scholar-All-America, recognizing her commitment to both her studies and her sport.

Emilia graduated with dual degrees in Business Administration and Communications, with an emphasis on Journalism, and is currently pursuing her master's in Mass Communication. In 2023, she expanded her experience in the field of sports journalism by interning with Swimming World Magazine, where she wrote articles covering both collegiate and professional swimming.

Her passions extend beyond swimming and writing—Emilia is also deeply interested in sports, languages, and female empowerment. In her free time, she enjoys reading romantic novels and listening to engaging podcasts, always seeking ways to broaden her horizons and grow both personally and professionally.
