2005 (As a Freshman):  Shared pitching and hitting duties as a true freshman ... Made nine appearances and six starts as a pitcher, and 29 appearances and 20 starts as a position player (nine starts at first base, 11 in the outfield) ... Went 1-3 with an 8.13 earned run average over 31.0 innings, though he held opposing hitters to a .305 batting average ... Took a no decision against Eastern Illinois (3/15), despite allowing just one unearned run over 6.0 innings of work ... Fanned a season-high six batters against Murray State (3/9), and allowed just three hits over 6.0 innings ... Went 5.0 innings against Mississippi Valley (5/8) to pick up his first collegiate win ... Hit .265 over 83 at-bats with 11 RBI and 11 runs scored ... Stroked five doubles and two home runs to raise his slugging percentage to .398 ... Had six multi-hit games, highlighted by a season-best 3-for-4 effort against Florida International (5/22), with three RBI, a home run and a double ...Drove in a season-high three runs on two occasions, both against FIU (5/21 and 5/22) ... High School: Split playing time between first base and pitcher ... At the plate, he had 110 at bats as a senior with a .400 batting average and six home runs...On the mound, Gatlin went a perfect 10-0 on the season and had an ERA of 2.85...As a senior, he was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s All-Arkansas team, played in the AHSCA All-Star game, was named AAA All-State and was an All-Conference performer...Earned All-District honors his sophomore through senior seasons and also earned AAA All-State his junior year...Named to the honor roll for academic excellence and was a member of the Beta Club.
