Knight Named to Johnny Bench Award Watch List

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock baseball's Cameron Knight was named to the Johnny Bench Award watch list on Thursday afternoon. The award is given annually to the top catcher in NCAA Division I.
 
Knight was one of 85 catchers to be nominated for the award. So far this season, Knight is hitting .442 with 19 hits, three doubles, seven RBIs, a .581 slugging percentage and a .479 on-base percentage. His batting average ranks 54th in the nation while his hit total ranks 90th. Defensively, Knight has caught three runners stealing and has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
 
The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, whom will be announced May 17, 2017. Ballots will be sent to the national voting panel at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced June 5, 2017. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at the 20th Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 29, 2017.
