Trojans Begin Fall Practice

LITTLE ROCK – With summer officially over, Little Rock baseball took to the field for its first fall practice on Monday at Gary Hogan Field.

The Trojans brought in a large recruiting class as 21 players joined Little Rock during the offseason. Little Rock graduated 13 players after last season and have 12 returners for the upcoming year.

"We always look forward to the fall phase of team practice because it's really the first time we get to see the development from the guys who are returning," Little Rock head coach Chris Curry said. "We also get to see the new guys on campus compete for the first time at Gary Hogan Field under a Division I speed."

This year's squad includes two catchers, 11 infielders, four outfielders, 11 right-handed pitchers and five left-handed pitchers.

"I've been excited about this group, and their first five weeks of limited work has been intense," Curry said. "Our strength and conditioning program has really taken a front seat, and this group has not shied away from that. We have an emphasis on delivering under pressure and handling tough situations, and this group has done well."

All of the Trojans' hard work in fall practice will culminate with the Fall World Series taking place later in October.

"We're excited to see the team take drills and skills we've been working on into our team practice phase," Curry said.
