Trojans Snap Losing Streak with Sweep of Arkansas State

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's volleyball team snapped their three game losing streaking by sweeping in-state rivals Arkansas State 30-15, 30-20, 30-24 at the Jack Stephens Center Tuesday.  The Trojans forced 26 Arkansas State attack errors and limited them to a .034 attack percentage.

 

"I thought our kids played more like themselves with enthusiasm and intensity," said head coach Van Compton.  "These are the key ingredients in our team that make us successful."

 

Ivanka Davidova led the team in kills with 13 and led the team in blocks setting a season record with eight block assists and tying her season record with eight total blocks.

 

Larisa Durmisevic recorded her 13th double-digit kill match with 11.

 

Ana Carolina Buccini recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs.

 

Megan Naborowski contributed her 13th double-digit dig match with a team high of 16 digs.

 

UALR came out blazing the first game hitting .444 while limited the Lady Indians to a
-.031 hitting percentage.

 

The Trojans rattled off eight consecutive points at the end of the game to win.

 

Amila Baracovic knocked down five kills in the game.

 

UALR continued their momentum through game two hitting .475 while limiting Arkansas State to a .100 hitting percentage.

The Trojans once again took the early lead.  Arkansas State pushed as many as five consecutive points toward the end of the game, but UALR knocked down two kills by Davidova and one by Durmisevic to win.

 

Arkansas-Little Rock struggled throughout game three hitting only .172 and allowing their opponents to tie or get within one point of the lead several times.

 

The Trojans picked up the pace in the middle of game three scoring six consecutive points. 

 

At match point, the Lady Indians struck back knocking down four unanswered points, but a final kill by Buccini gave the home team the sweep.

 

Arkansas-Little Rock continues conference action Sunday against North Texas in Denton, Texas.  Match begins at 1 p.m.  The Trojans next home match is Saturday October 15 against Louisiana-Lafayette.  Match is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
