Box Score Trojans Fall to Kansas State in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-Timely mistakes cost Arkansas-Little Rock's volleyball team their season opener as they lost 30-22, 30-27, and 30-15 against Kansas State in the first game of the St. Clair Corporation/Clarion Hotel Missouri State Invitational Friday.
Ana Carolina Buccini opened the season with double-digit kills recording 12, while Larisa Durmisevic led the team in digs with 10.
The Trojans kept the first game close capitalizing on Wildcat errors. Freshman Amila Baracovic knocked down the first kill of the game for UALR.
Kansas State remained in the lead until two back-to-back kills by Buccini and Anelia Petrova and a ball handling error by Kansas State tied the game at 18.
UALR committed five errors in the remainder of the game as Kansas State took the 30-22 win.
The Trojans picked up momentum in the second game recording 19 kills and a .359 hitting percentage.
UALR scored the first point on a kill by Ivanka Davidova. The Trojans and Wildcats tied the game six times before Kansas State took a two point lead.
Behind by three, Baracovic scored a vital point for the Trojans, but Kansas State would take the second game on a final kill, 30-27.
The third game belonged to Kansas State. UALR took a 5-3 lead on attack errors by the Wildcats. The Big 12 opponents rattled off seven straight points in the middle of the game giving them the advantage.
Kansas State held off the Trojan attack to win 30-15.
The Trojans continue tournament play in Springfield Saturday at noon against host school Southwest Missouri State.
