UALR Splits in Tournament Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.
?Arkansas Little Rock's volleyball team split games Saturday losing their first match against Southwest Missouri State in three games (24-30, 28-30, 17-30) and winning their second match against Southeast Missouri State in five (28-30, 30-25, 28-30, 30-23, 15-10) at the St. Clair Corporation/Clarion Hotel Missouri State Invitational.

Over two matches UALR recorded 123 kills averaging 15.88 per game.

Larisa Durmisevic recorded 29 kills on the day, while Sarah Breedlove knocked down 23 kills and led the team in hitting percent with a .413 mark.

In the first game, Southwest Missouri took an early two point lead until Ivanka Davidova put one on the board for the Trojans.

The host team then rattled off five straight points to take the 7-1 lead.

UALR would battle back capitalizing on a Southwest Missouri error to tie the game at 20.

Southwest Missouri State held the Trojans to win the match 30-24.

UALR took the early lead 2-0 in the second game.  The score traded sides with the host team keeping the edge.

The Trojans had an opportunity to take control after two errors committed by their opponents, but Southwest Missouri ended the game with a final kill 30-28.

Southwest Missouri controlled the third game holding UALR to only 17 points.

Ana Carolina Buccini led the team in kills with 11, while Breedlove knocked down 10.

In the second match, UALR and Southeast Missouri battled to five games with the Trojans coming out on top.

The Redhawks took the first game narrowly 30-28 on a last point kill.

In the second game, the Trojans sustained their lead early rattling off as many as four straight points.

Two final kills by Breedlove sealed the victory 30-25.

The two teams traded the next two games with the Redhawks winning the third game 30-28 and the Trojans winning the fourth 30-23.

In the final game, the score remained close until UALR six straight points to control the game 10-4.

The Trojans would take the game and match victory 15-10 on a final point by Durmisevic.

Durmisevic recorded 23 kills for the match, while Iva Adzic and Megan Naborowski each contributed 23 digs.

UALR ends tournament play Sunday against Saint Louis at 10 a.m.
