Trojans Winning Streak Snapped by Oral Roberts

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Arkansas-Little
Rock's volleyball team saw their six game winning streak snapped as Oral
Roberts defeated the Trojans 30-27, 30-28, 30-22 at the Jack Stephens
Center Tuesday. UALR committed 22 attack errors and nine reception errors,
while Oral Roberts recorded 12 blocks.
“We played awful,”
said head coach Van Compton. “We are really disappointed. We played as
poorly as we have all season. We played flat and with no enthusiasm. We
will come to practice tomorrow and correct our errors.”
Amila Baracovic
tied her career and season high for the third time with a team high of 20
kills. She also led the team in attack percentage with a .410.
Larisa Durmisevic
contributed 12 kills, while Sanda Dzile had three service aces.
Megan Naborowski
recorded her sixth 20 plus dig match with a team high of 20 digs.
The first game
remained even with the Trojans scoring three consecutive points at the end
including two kills by Baracovic to bring the score to 29-27.
A final kill by Ori
Zuzic gave Oral Roberts the win.
UALR hit only .182
the second game but substained a 27-26 lead on two errors by Oral Roberts.
Dzile then recorded
a service ace extending the Trojan lead.
Three errors by
UALR and a kill by Oral Roberts sealed the second game victory for the
Golden Eagles.
Oral Roberts hit
their best percentage the third game with a .282 mark while limiting UALR
to .190. The Golden Eagles scored five consecutive points toward the end
of the game to complete the sweep.
Arkansas-Little
Rock continues conference action on Friday playing host to Western
Kentucky. Game begins at 7 p.m. in the Jack
Stephens Center.
