UALR Finishes Tournament 3-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—After
winning two games yesterday, the University Arkansas-Little Rock
volleyball team finished tournament action Saturday sweeping Alabama A&M
(30-20, 30-18, 30-9) and losing to host school Memphis (30-28, 36-34,
30-28) at the University of Memphis Invitational. The Trojans (4-4) hit
.360 in the two matches while knocking down 91 kills.

Buccini and Larisa Durmisevic earned all-tournament honors for the
weekend.
The Trojans charged
in the first match against Alabama A&M recording 39 kills and hitting
.420. Alabama A&M committed 31 errors while hitting only -.031.
Errors plagued
Alabama A&M early in the first two games. UALR took a 4-0 lead in the
first game on two Bulldog errors and kills by Tenesha Robinson and
Davidova.
The Trojans jumped
on a 3-0 lead in the second game on two Alabama A&M errors and a service
ace by Iva Adzic.
UALR controlled the
third game with a 5-0 lead. The Trojans scored as many as eight
continuous points limiting their opponents to only nine points.
Larisa Durmisevic
knocked down a team high 11 kills with no errors for a .647 hitting
percentage while contributing a team high seven digs. Naborowski also
recorded seven digs.
In the second
match, UALR kept the score close and out hit their opponents in two of the
three games. Memphis committed 20 errors to the Trojans 14.
The score tied
twice in the first game with Memphis sustaining the lead throughout the
whole game.
UALR pushed the
Tigers in the second game out hitting their opponents .289 to .205, but
Memphis took the game with a kill and a Trojan error.
The third game
remained close with UALR knocking down 15 kills and Memphis 16.
The Trojans fought
for the final points with a kill by Buccini and a service ace by
Naborowski but the Tigers completed the sweep on a final kill.
Buccini led UALR in
kills with 15, while Naborowski recorded 10 digs.
Arkansas-Little
Rock continues tournament play next weekend at the University of
Texas at Arlington Invitational. The Trojans face
Iowa and Wake
Forest on Sept. 9 and Texas-Pan American and the host school on Sept. 10.
