Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?Scoring their lowest amount of points of the year, the University of Arkansas-Little Rock lost their third conference game to North Texas 60-43 at the Jack Stephens Center Thursday. The Trojans (9-8, 1-3 Sun Belt) shot 30 percent from the floor.
“I think it is going to be a roller coaster,” said head coach Joe Foley. “Any time you have freshmen and sophomores, if they don't get off to a good start and shoot the ball they tend to get their heads down.”
Jocelyn Love led all scorers with 18 points, while Renee Renz contributed 13 and led the team in blocks with three.
Jessica Brown brought down a team high of six rebounds, while Heather Morris recorded a team high of four assists.
North Texas (13-4, 3-2) scored the first points of the half on a jumper by Talicia Sanders. The Mean Green knocked in two more points, before Renz scored UALR's first points hitting a fade away jumper with two seconds on the shot clock.
Both teams exchanged baskets before North Texas went on a six point run to expand their lead 12-4.
A jumper by Morris cut the lead in half at the 8:24 mark, but the Mean Green kept the edge expanding the point spread by as many as ten.
With 2:05 remaining in the half, Love knocked in two free throws to start a four point run that sent North Texas into the locker run with only a four point lead.
Free throws ruled the beginning of the second half with North Texas scoring all six of their points in the first four minutes from the charity stripe.
At the 15:43 mark, Amber Jackson scored the first field goal of the half with a layup to give the Mean Green a 31-19 lead.
UALR scored their first points of the half on a layup by Love with 14:54 remaining.
The Trojans cut North Texas's lead to nine twice, but the Mean Green kept pace to win 60-43.
Arkansas-Little Rock continues conference action on Saturday as they face Denver at the Jack Stephens Center. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
