Box Score MOBILE, Ala.?Despite cutting the lead to two, the University of Arkansas-Little Rock lost to South Alabama 67-62 on Saturday. UALR (11-10, 3-5 Sun Belt) out rebounded the Jaguars (11-10, 5-4 Sun Belt) 45 to 35 but shot 29.3 percent from the field.
Renee Renz led the team in points with 23, while Heather Morris knocked down 18 and recorded a team high of six assists.
Andrea Keys brought down a team high of 10 boards.
Both teams exchanged baskets for the start of the contest with Renz knocking in the first field goal for the Trojans.
At the 16:27 mark, South Alabama started their six point run, before Morris sunk two free throws.
Jocelyn Love knocked in a long three-point shot to pull the Trojans within two with 13:33 remaining.
After each team exchanged free throws and baskets, the Jaguars scored five points with a jumper by Tiffany Sanders and a three by JoAnna Williams to take their largest lead so far 19-12.
At the 7:04 mark, Love knocked in another three-pointer bringing UALR within four. South Alabama quickly returned the points to stretch the lead back to seven.
With 3:31 remaining until half-time, Love sparked a 15-7 run over three minutes that included one three-pointer by Love and two by Morris.
Kimyatta Viverette broadened the Jaguars' lead back to five with an old fashioned three-point play with one minute remaining until half.
UALR committed their 11th foul with 59.1 second on the clock adding two more points to South Alabama's lead.
The Trojans went to the locker room with a 37-31 deficit.
Renz opened the second half scoring all of the Trojans six points over the first four minutes of the second half.
A three-pointer made by Viverette at the 16:00 mark expanded the Jaguars lead to nine.
With 13:37 remaining, South Alabama extended their lead to ten on a jumper by Williams.
After a 4-2 scoring advantage by the Jaguars, Morris sparked a 10-3 run to edge the Jaguars lead to two.
Both teams exchanged baskets with South Alabama keeping a three point lead.
Free throws ruled the remaining points in the game with the Jaguars taking the 5-2 advantage.
A three-point shot by Morris at the buzzer wasn't enough to win as the Trojans lose 67-62.
