Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La.?New Orleans used 12 runs on 14 hits to defeat the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 12-5 Saturday. The Trojans (21-22, 3-11 Sun Belt) recorded ten hits in the loss.
Brian Asbill went 3-of-5 with a run and an RBI, while Derek Eilers went 2-of-4 with a run, a double, and a triple.
For New Orleans (21-20, 6-8), Michael Epping backed up yesterday's performance going 3-of-4 with two runs, an RBI, and a double.
UALR jumped on the scoreboard first at the top of the second. Eilers started the inning with a triple to center field. After an out, Brett Lawler knocked in a sacrifice fly to put the run on the board.
The score remained in the Trojans favor until the bottom of the fifth when UNO scored nine runs on five hits and an error to take the lead. In the inning, four Privateers doubled, while Alex Webster homered.
In the bottom of the next inning, New Orleans scored two more runs on three hits with one error.
The Privateers put another run on the board at the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Epping.
In the top of the eighth, the Trojans scored three runs on three hits. After an out, Asbill doubled down the right field line, before Tim Lawrence knocked in an RBI single through the left side. Gotcher hit a two run homer to round out the Trojans scoring for the inning.
An RBI single by Asbill in the ninth inning put another run on the board for UALR, but New Orleans limited the Trojans to just that one run for the win.
Arkansas-Little Rock plays the final game of the series against New Orleans Sunday at 1 p.m.
