Box Score

JONESBORO, Ark. ? The Arkansas-Little Rock baseball team outhit Arkansas State 12-to-6 on Sunday afternoon, but made three costly errors in the first as the Indians completed the series sweep with a 6-5 victory at Tomlinson Stadium. The Trojans (21-16, 3-6) fought back from their 5-0 deficit to tie the game at 5-all in the sixth, but the Indians (17-15, 4-5) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh off a RBI single by Brett Kinning.

UALR committed three errors in the first to help the Indians push across five runs off just two hits. ASU scored its first run off a wild pitch by starter Rob Harmon. Michael Williams, Jr., followed with a RBI single, before Guy Brown delivered a three-run double down the rightfield line.

ASU would go scoreless over the next five innings, as Harmon surrendered just four hits and a walk over 5.0 innings, while striking out four.

The Trojans went scoreless over the first three innings before getting on the board in the fourth. Junior Brett Lawler sparked the team with a one-out double, then came around to score off a base knock by junior Brian Smiley.

Facing a 5-1 deficit, the Trojans manufactured four runs in the top of the sixth to even the game at 5-all. Junior Ryan Gotcher, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two stolen bases, made it a 5-3 contest with a two-run double (one of three on the day). Junior Brian Asbill brought UALR within one, 5-4, with a run-scoring single, before senior Jacob Stover tied the game with a sacrifice fly to right.

Junior Dustin Turner (4-3) retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the seventh, before issuing a walk to Elliot Jacobs ? who moved in to scoring position by stealing second. With two outs and Jacobs on second, Kinning came through with a RBI single to left to give the Indians a 6-5 lead.

UALR managed just one hit over the final three innings (a double by Gotcher), as ASU's bullpen made the one-run lead stand up to complete the sweep. Brandon Eller improved to 3-0 on the season by throwing 2.2 scoreless innings, while allowing one hit and no walks. Tim Egart went the final 1.1 innings without allowing a hit, a walk or a run, to pick up his fourth save. Turner allowed just two hits over the final three innings, but took the loss after surrendering the game-winning single to Kinning.

The Trojans return to action next weekend when they welcome South Alabama to Gary Hogan Field for a three-game series (April 14-16). Game one is slated for a 6 p.m. start time on Friday.
