Box Score 2 OXFORD, Miss.?The UALR volleyball team ended the 2006 opening weekend at the Ole Miss Magnolia Invitational with a win over Southeast Missouri State 3-1 (30-28, 36-30, 30-17, 30-25) and a loss to Ole Miss 3-2 (20-30, 30-27, 30-28, 32-34, 9-15).
Amila Barakovic recorded 36 kills and 40 digs over the two matches, while Ivanka Davidova knocked down 41 kills.
Ana Carolina Buccini recorded 64 digs over the two matches earning her All-Tournament team honors.
In the first match against Ole Miss, the Trojans had two players score double-doubles, three in double-digit kills, and four in double-digit digs.
Davidova led the team with 22 kills, while Barakovic recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 kills and a career high of 19 digs.
Anita Bucur knocked 15 kills over the five games.
Sanda Dzile recorded her first double-double of the season with career highs of 62 set assists and 13 digs.
Buccini led the team with a career high of 34 digs, while Courtney Hays contributed 17 digs, and Ashley Fejleh contributed 10 digs.
In game one, the Rebels jumped out to an early lead and sustained it throughout the game. The Trojans tied the score at 1-1 with a kill by Davidova, but Ole Miss scored three consecutive points and controlled the rest of the game winning 30-20.
UALR fought back in the second game jumping out to an early lead. The Rebels charged back at the end of the game scoring six consecutive points and bringing the score to 28-27.
A kill by Anelia Petrova and a service ace by Dilyana Deyanova sealed the game two victory.
The Trojans held on for the game three win as Bucur knocked down the winning kill.
Game four stretched past 30 points when Ole Miss tied the score on a kill by Katie Kramer. The score was tied two more times before another kill by Kramer and a kill by Kristen Carroll sealed the game four win for the host team.
The Rebels jumped to an early lead in game five scoring four consecutive points after the score was tied to take the 4-1 advantage.
The Trojans came within two points several times, but Ole Miss held on for the 15-9 win and the match.
In the second match, the Trojans defeated Southeast Missouri State with three Trojans in double-digit kills and two in double-digit digs.
Barakovic recorded her second straight double-double with a team high of 19 kills on 37 attempts for a .405 percentage and a career high of 21 digs, while Davidova knocked down a team high of 19 kills.
Bucur knocked down a career high of 16 kills, while Buccini recorded her second straight 30 plus dig match with 30 digs.
In game one, both teams battled back and forth for the lead with the score tying ten times, before the Redhawks rallied off four consecutive points to take a 14-10 lead.
With the score tied at 27, UALR rattled off two straight points off of kills by Barakovic and Davidova. Southeast Missouri knocked down a kill to come within one, but Davidova recorded a kill for the game one win.
The Redhawks took the second game 30-26 scoring four consecutive poinst at the end for the victory.
The Trojans controlled the next two games winning 30-17 and 30-25 for the match.
UALR travels to Columbia, Mo. for a Top 25 match-up against the University of Missouri Tuesday. Match begins at 6:30 p.m.
