Box Score JONESBORO, Ark.?UALR lost their second conference match-up to Arkansas State 62-43 at the Convocation Center Tuesday as the Lady Indians remain undefeated in conference action. UALR drops to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in Sun Belt action play.
Nikya Hughes recorded her sixth double-double leading the team with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Jocelyn Love knocked down 13 points including three three-pointers.
Andrianne Davie led all scorers with 29 points and all rebounders with 11.
Arkansas State (12-4, 6-0 Sun Belt) shot a blistering 65 percent from the floor in the first half knocking down 13-of-20 shots, while UALR shot 34.6 percent.
Davie knocked down 18 points in the first half, while Hughes scored 11 for the Trojans.
After UALR won the tip, the game remained scoreless until 17:33 when Rudy Sims knocked down a three-pointer to give ASU the lead.
Anshel Cooper answered back for the Trojans with a jumper followed by a layup and one for the 5-3 advantage.
After the Lady Indians took the one point lead, UALR knocked down four straight points by Love and Hughes.
The score changed hands several times before Davie and then Veronica Smith knocked down back-to-back jumpers to give ASU the 17-14 lead at the 8:04 mark.
Both teams exchanged baskets with ASU holding the edge and Davie scoring six of the Lady Indian's points.
Over the remaining three minutes until half, ASU knocked down nine straight points including a three-pointer by Ali Carter with 1:03 on the clock to extend their half-time lead to 36-22.
Cooper opened the second half with a jumper, before ASU knocked down six straight points to expand their lead to 18.
After both teams exchanged baskets, Love knocked down a three-pointer to edge the Trojans 44-29 with 16:13 remaining.
With 9:05 remaining, Love drilled a three-pointer to cut the Lady Indians lead to 11.
After Sitzmann hit a free throw for a technical foul on Davie, ASU knocked down four straight points to extend their lead back to 51-38.
Love knocked down a three-pointer to cut the lead to ten at the 4:31 mark, before Sims scored a layup with 3:27 on the clock.
Over the remaining 2:28, the Lady Indians out scored UALR 9-2 to win 62-43.
UALR continues Sun Belt Conference action on Saturday at they travel to Mobile, Ala. to face South Alabama. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
