LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The UALR volleyball team won their second straight match and third straight meeting against Troy 3-0 (30-28, 32-30, 30-16) at the Jack Stephens Center Saturday. The Trojans improve to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in Sun Belt action.
Ivanka Davidova led the team with 14 kills and four block solos, while Amila Barakovic recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Lenka Melicharkova recorded her tenth double-double of the season with a team high of 40 assists and 10 digs, while Amy Hafner led the team in digs with 23.
In game on, Troy (13-13, 4-6 SBC) took a 2-0 lead on kills by Aubre Smith and Meghan Gilroy, before UALR tied the score on a kill by Katie McCutcheon and a Troy attack error.
Troy regained the lead and knocked down as many as five straight points. UALR pushed points and tied the score at 19.
The score would tie two more times, before UALR took the advantage and sustained it.
Troy came within one point at the end of the game, but UALR won on a Troy service error.
The score tied 13 times and the lead changed hands four in game two as the game pushed past 30 points.
With the score tied at 30 all, a Troy attack error followed by a kill by McCutcheon sealed the UALR victory.
In game three, Troy jumped to a 2-0 lead, before Anita Bucur knocked down the first point for UALR.
The score tied twice, before UALR knocked down five consecutive points including two kills by Barakovic to gain the advantage.
UALR held Troy to just 16 points for the game and won the match on a kill by Barakovic.
UALR continues Sun Belt action on Friday, October 19 as they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to face Florida Atlantic. Match is set for 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
