MURFREESBORO, Tenn.?The UALR volleyball team lost their sixth straight meeting to the defending Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champions Middle Tennessee 3-0 (30-23, 30-26, 30-14) Friday at the Alumni Memorial Gym. UALR is now 12-6 overall and 4-2 in Sun Belt action.
Amila Barakovic led the team with nine kills, while Katie McCutcheon knocked down seven kills.
Amy Hafner recorded a team high of eight digs, while Anita Bucur led the team in block assists with five.
In game one, UALR jumped to a 1-0 lead on an attack error by MTSU, but the Blue Raiders tied the score on a kill by Izabela Kozon.
The Trojans took the advantage knocking down three straight points including kills by Barakovic and McCutcheon.
MTSU pushed points and tied the score at four before taking their first lead.
The score would tie five times, before MTSU knocked down five unanswered points to take the lead and sustain it.
MTSU won 30-23 on a kill by Kozon.
UALR took a 1-0 lead in game two on a kill by McCutcheon, but MTSU answered back with four consecutive points to take the lead.
The Trojans fought back and tied the score at nine on a setting error by the Blue Raiders. The score would tie nine more times throughout the game.
With the score 21 all, MTSU scored two points on Trojan errors to take the advantage.
UALR came within one point of MTSU, but the Blue Raiders won 30-26.
In game three, the score tied three times in the beginning, before MTSU scored five straight points including three Trojan errors to take the 8-3 advantage.
The Blue Raiders held UALR to seven points throughout the first half of the match.
MTSU won the match 30-14 on a kill by Ashley Adams.
UALR continues conference action on Saturday as they travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to face Western Kentucky. Match is set for 2 p.m.
