UALR Wins 20th Match over New Orleans 3-0

NEW ORLEANS, La.?For the first time since 2000, the UALR volleyball team won their 20th match of the season with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-19) victory over New Orleans Thursday at the Human Performance Center.  Head coach Van Compton won her 350th career match with the victory.

 

Amila Barakovic recorded her 12th double-double of the season with a team high of 14 kills and ten digs.  She also led the team in attack percentage committing just two errors on 23 attacks for a .522 percentage.

 

Ivanka Davidova recorded 12 kills and a team high seven block assists and eight total blocks, while Lenka Melicharkova tallied a team high of 44 assists and also recorded five block assists and six total blocks.

 

Amy Hafner led the team in digs recording 11 for the match.

 

In game one, a kill by Barakovic put the first point up for UALR (20-8, 12-4 Sun Belt), before the Privateers tied the score on a kill by Lindsey Boler.

 

UNO (15-14, 9-7 Sun Belt) knocked down four straight points to take the lead.  The Trojans tied the score seven times before taking the advantage.

 

With the score 24 all, the Trojans scored two straight points on two kills by Davidova to secure their first lead of the match.

 

UALR won the game on a kill by Barakovic.

 

UNO jumped to the 1-0 lead in game two, before the Trojans scored on a kill by Katie McCutcheon.  After the score tied at two, the Privateers took the lead recording three straight points including two off of UALR errors.

 

The Trojans tied the score four times before taking the advantage on two straight UNO errors.

 

UALR won the game on kills by Melicharkova and Dilyana Deyanova.

 

In game three, the Trojans recorded their highest attack percentage knocking down 20 kills with five errors on 36 attempts for a .417 percentage.

 

A kill by Melicharkova put UALR on the board first, but UNO tied the score on a Trojan service error.

 

The Privateers tied the score three more times with UALR keeping the advantage.

 

The Trojans held UNO to 19 points for the match and won on a kill by Melicharkova.

 

UALR continues volleyball action on Saturday as they travel to Lafayette, La. to face Louisiana-Lafayette.  Match is set for 5 p.m.
