DENVER, Colo.?The UALR volleyball team lost their first conference match to Denver 3-0 (17-30, 12-30, 20-30) at the Hamilton Gym Sunday. The Trojans fall to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference action, while Denver is undefeated in conference play.
Katie McCutcheon led the team with seven kills, while Amy Hafner led the team with 15 digs.
The Trojans recorded 27 kills with 24 errors on 111 attempts for a .027 percentage, while Denver knocked down 57 kills with 16 errors for a .353 attack percentage.
In game one, the score tied twice in the beginning before UALR took their one and only lead of the game on an error by Denver for the 4-3 advantage.
The Pioneers then knocked down eight straight points to take a 10-4 lead.
Denver sustained their advantage and won on a kill by Holly Benson.
The Pioneers jumped to an early lead in game two on an attack error by UALR. Denver scored as many as five straight points and won a kill by Kim Muller.
In game three, UALR scored first on an error by the Pioneers. After the score tied twice, Denver knocked down four consecutive points to take a 6-4 lead.
Denver won the match on a kill by Alexis Ninos.
UALR continues conference action at the Jack Stephens Center on Friday as they host Louisiana-Monroe. Match is set for 7 p.m.
