LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?For the eighth straight meeting, the UALR volleyball team defeated ULM 3-0 (30-20, 30-14, 30-16) Friday at the Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans improve to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference action.
“After the loss to Denver, it was good to see our kids rally back and win,” said head coach Van Compton.
Amila Barakovic led the team with 14 kills, while Amy Hafner led the team with 10 digs.
In game one, the Trojans knocked down 16 kills with only four errors on 27 attempts for a .444 attack percentage, while the Warhawks knocked down 11 kills with six errors on 33 attempts for a .152 percentage.
UALR jumped to a 2-0 lead on a kill by Ivanka Davidova and an attack error by the Warhawks.
ULM tied the score at five on a service ace, but the Trojans knocked down seven straight points to regain the lead.
UALR sustained their lead and won on a service error by the Warhawks.
The Trojans committed just one attack error in game two and recorded a .810 percentage for the game, while ULM recorded six kills and six errors.
A service error by UALR put ULM up first, but the Trojans scored two straight points on a kill and service ace by Anita Bucur.
The score tied twice, before ULM took the lead on a service ace by Ilima Sam Fong.
UALR rallied back and tied the score at seven, but the Warhawks challenged and tied the score three more times.
With the score tied at ten, UALR took the lead and sustained it on a kill by Davidova.
UALR won the game on a service ace by Barakovic.
In game three, UALR knocked down their fewest kills with 13, but ULM recorded five kills on eight errors.
An attack error by the Trojan gave ULM the 1-0 lead. The score tied twice before the Trojans took a 4-2 advantage on two straight kills by Barakovic.
UALR expanded their lead knocking down seven consecutive points at the end to win the match on a kill by Barakovic.
UALR continues conference action Saturday as they host Louisiana-Lafayette. Match is set for 5 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
