CONWAY, Ark.?The University of Central Arkansas kept their undefeated record alive as the UALR volleyball team dropped the last two games of the match to lose 2-3 (28-30, 34-32, 30-23, 26-30, 12-15) Tuesday. The Trojans fall to 3-4 for the season, while UCA improves to 8-0.
Amila Barakovic led the team in kills with 18, while Anita Bucur recorded a career high of 17 kills.
Ivanka Davidova contributed 16 kills and a season high eight block assists, while Lenka Melicharkova recorded her sixth double-double with a team high 59 assists and 18 digs.
Amy Hafner recorded a career high 38 digs and was just two shy of tying the UALR individual match record.
For the match, both teams recorded below .200 for attack percentage with UALR hitting .185 and UCA .170.
The Sugar Bears jumped to a 3-0 lead to start game one. UCA sustained their advantage until UALR tied the score at 17 on a kill by Barakovic.
The score tied two more times with UCA keeping the edge. At match point for the Sugar Bears, the Trojans scored a point on a kill by Barakovic to bring the score to 29-28.
UCA won game one 30-28 on an attack error by UALR.
In game two, UCA jumped to the 1-0 lead, before the Trojans tied the score on a kill by Davidova.
The score would tie five more times before UALR took the lead and sustained it.
A kill by Barakovic set up game point for the Trojans, but the score was tied at 29 on a service error by UALR.
The score tied three more times, before UALR sealed the game with a kill by Bucur.
UALR went up two games to one with a 30-23 win knocking down 17 kills and recording a .275 attack percentage in game three.
UCA struck back in game four scoring four consecutive points with the score tied at 25 to take the 29-25 lead. After UALR knocked down a point, the Sugar Bears forced a fifth game with a kill.
After the score tied at one in the beginning of game five, UCA jumped to the early lead scoring as many as four straight points.
The Trojans came within two, but UCA took the match on a kill by Camila Scapini.
