Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The UALR volleyball team won their second match this season against Louisiana-Lafayette 3-1 (25-10, 27-29, 25-16, 25-13) Sunday at Earl K. Long Gym. The Trojans improve to 18-4 overall and 7-2 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Anita Bucur led the team in kills with 17 and attack percentage with a .739 mark recording no errors on 23 attempts, while Katie McCutcheon led the team in blocks with four and recorded nine kills on 18 attempts and one error for a .444 attack percentage.
Guiliana De Francesco recorded a double-double with 38 assists and ten digs, while Amy Hafner led the team in digs with 25.
UALR opened the first set on a 7-0 run including kills by Bucur and Amila Barakovic. Louisiana-Lafayette (6-13, 3-6 Sun Belt) scored their first point on a kill by Meghan Harrison.
The Trojans scored as many as five straight points and held the Ragin' Cajuns to ten points winning the set 25-10 on a kill by Becky Mann.
In set two, UL opened with a 2-0 lead on a kill by Harrison and a UALR error. The Trojans first scored on a Ragin' Cajun error.
UALR pushed points and tied the score at four on a kill by Lora Dickey. UL regained their advantage on a kill by Carly Payan, before extending their lead to as many as three points.
The Trojans tied the score eight times in the remaining points of the set. With the score tied at 27, two UALR errors sealed the 29-27 UL set win.
The Ragin' Cajuns opened the third set with a 1-0 lead on a service ace by Lindsay Brown. UALR tied the score on a UL error before knocking down two more points on a UL error and a kill by De Francesco.
The Trojans sustained their lead recording as many as four consecutive points and winning the set 25-16 on a UL attack error.
In set four, Louisiana-Lafayette opened with a kill by Elizabeth Inman. UALR tied the score on a kill by Barakovic and took the lead on a kill by McCutcheon.
UL tied the score twice, before the Trojans recorded three straight points to bring the score to 6-3 in UALR's favor.
With the score 13-10, UALR knocked down seven points including two kills by Bucur for a 20-10 lead.
The Trojans held UL to 13 points and won the set and match 25-13 on a kill by McCutcheon.
UALR continues Sun Belt action tomorrow at ULM. Match is set for 6 p.m.
