Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The UALR volleyball team lost their fifth straight contest against Florida International 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 17-25, 19-25) Friday at the Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans fall to 19-5 overall and 8-3 in Sun Belt Conference action.
Amila Barakovic led the team in kills with 14, while Anita Bucur recorded 13 kills. Amy Hafner led the team in digs with 20.
Guiliana De Francesco recorded a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs.
Yarimar Rosa led FIU in kills with 23.
In set one, UALR jumped to a 3-0 lead on two kills by Barakovic and an FIU error. Florida International (19-4, 9-1 SBC) scored their first point on a kill by Natalia Valentin.
With the Trojans holding the advantage, the Golden Panthers pushed points tying the score at five and six. UALR regained the lead on a FIU attack error.
The Trojans scored as many as five points holding FIU to 17 and winning on a kill by De Francesco.
UALR opened set two with a kill by Barakovic, but FIU tied the score on a kill by Rosa.
The score tied five times with the Trojans holding the advantage. With the score at 11 all, the Golden Panthers took their first lead on a UALR attack error and scored four more consecutive points.
UALR came within two, but FIU held the Trojans to 17 points and won on a kill by Valentin.
In the third set, FIU opened with a kill by Rosa. UALR pushed points tying the score twice. With the score tied at ten, FIU knocked down five straight points.
The Trojans scored 17 points in the set as the Golden Panthers won on a kill by Rosa.
UALR opened the fourth set on a kill by Dickey. FIU tied the score six times before gaining the 8-7 lead.
The Trojans pushed points coming within one, but FIU sustained their advantage. A kill by Rosa sealed the 25-17 set and match win.
UALR continues action on Sunday as they host Florida Atlantic. Match is set for 1 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
