Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The UALR volleyball team defeated North Texas 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21) Friday at the Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans improve to 21-6 overall and 10-4 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Amila Barakovic led the team in kills with 15, while Guiliana De Francesco recorded her tenth double-double of the season with 41 assists and 11 digs.
Amy Hafner led the team in digs with her 22nd double-digit dig match and fifth straight recording 21.
North Texas (4-21, 2-10 Sun Belt) started the first set on a 7-0 run, before a UNT service error put the first point on the board for UALR. Both teams exchanged points with the Mean Green holding their advantage.
UALR pushed points and tied the score at 14 on a kill by Becky Mann. The score tied three times, before the Trojans took their first advantage of the game on a kill by Barakovic.
With the score 20-18 in UALR's favor, the Trojans scored four straight points on three UNT errors and a kill by Hafner.
UALR scored the final two points of the set on a UNT attack error and a kill by Katie McCutcheon to win 25-21.
In set two, the Trojans put the first point on the board with a kill by De Francesco. The Mean Green answered with a kill by Salah Schoenecki.
UALR held the advantage, but North Texas pushed points tying the score at four, eight, and nine before taking their first lead on a UALR attack error.
The score tied three times with UALR regaining an 18-17 lead on a service ace by Anita Bucur.
The Trojans scored as many as three straight points and won 25-21 on a kill by Barakovic.
The Trojans never held the lead in the third set, as the Mean Green scored the first point on a kill by Brittani Youman.
UNT scored as many as four consecutive points and held UALR to 19 winning the match on a kill by Amy Huddleston.
In set four, UALR opened on a 3-0 run on two kills by Barakovic and a UNT error. UNT pushed points tying the score at seven, eight, and nine, before the Trojans regained the lead on a kill by Lora Dickey.
The Mean Green tied the score at 12 and took their first advantage on a kill by Marelle Lepments. UALR pushed points and tied the score at 13 regaining the lead on a UNT error.
The Trojans scored the final two points of the set on kills by Barakovic and won 25-21.
UALR ends the home season on Sunday as they host Denver. Seniors Barakovic, Hafner, McCutcheon, and Dickey will be honored after the match which is set to start at 12 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
