Box Score DENVER, Colo.?The UALR volleyball team lost their first match in three with a 3-0 (16-25, 14-25, 22-25) loss to Denver Friday at Hamilton Gymnasium. The Trojans fall to 23-7 overall and 13-4 in the Sun Belt Conference and currently sit second in the west division.
Amila Barakovic and Katie McCutcheon led the team in kills with seven. McCutcheon also led the team in attack percentage with a .312 mark.
Amy Hafner led the team in digs with 12, while Barakovic recorded ten digs.
The Trojans recorded a .076 attack percentage for the match to Denver's .292.
Denver (24-6, 13-4 SBC) opened the first set 3-0 on kills by Kerry Porter and Holly Benson and a UALR attack error. The Trojans then scored their first point on a kill by Barakovic.
After UALR scored another point, the Pioneers scored two straight points. The Trojans scored only 16 points in the set, with Denver knocking down the final three points for the 25-16 win.
In set two, the Trojans opened with the first point on a kill by McCutcheon. The Pioneers answered back scoring three straight points.
The Trojans recorded a .059 attack percentage in the set and was limited to 14 points with the Pioneers winning on a kill by Emily Davidsmeyer.
UALR opened the third set on a 2-0 run on two Denver attack errors. The Trojans sustained their lead through most of the match, but the Pioneers pushed points and tied the score at 17.
The score tied the score three times with UALR holding the advantage. With the score tied 22 all, Denver score three consecutive points on two UALR attack errors and a kill by Davidsmeyer to win 25-22.
UALR ends the regular season on Sunday as they travel to Denton, Texas to face North Texas. Match is set for 1 p.m.
