Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn.?The UALR volleyball team knocked down 46 kills to defeat Alabama A&M 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-13) Saturday at the final day of the Memphis Invitational. The Trojans knocked down .343 in the third set while holding the Bulldogs to .047 for the win.
Anita Bucur led the team in kills knocking down a season high of 17 and in attack percentage with a .471 mark, while Amila Barakovic scored 14 kills and recorded a .448 attack percentage.
Guiliana De Francesco led UALR in assists with 41, while Amy Hafner led the team in digs with 23.
Beck Mann recorded three service aces for the Trojans, while Lora Dickey recorded three block assists.
For the match, UALR (2-0) recorded a .298 attack percentage to AAMU's .107 and out blocked the Bulldogs five to two.
UALR started the first set with a block assist by Barakovic and Dickey. After AAMU tied the score five times, the Trojans capitalized on a Bulldog error to regain the lead.
UALR kept their advantage knocking down as many as seven straight points. The Trojans held AAMU to 16 points and won the set on a kill by Dickey.
Makeda Moore opened the second set for Alabama A&M with a kill, before an attack error by the Bulldogs tied the score.
The score tied five times, before AAMU regained the advantage on a Trojan attack error. The Trojans pushed points to continue to tie the score.
UALR gained the advantage 14-13 on a kill by Dickey. The Trojans sustained their lead scoring as many as three consecutive points. UALR won the set on a Bulldog attack error 25-21.
In the third set, Alabama A&M jumped to a 3-0 start on kills by Anna Crutchfield and Karensa Beckford. UALR answered back scoring points on a kill by Barakovic and an attack error by AAMU.
The Trojans pushed points and tied the score at six and seven, before the Bulldogs broaden their lead to two.
Kristi Block knocked down a kill to tie the score at ten and spark an 11 point run by the Trojans. With the score 20-11, the Bulldogs scored their next point on a kill by Crutchfield.
UALR held Alabama A&M to 13 points and won the set and match 25-13.
UALR continues action at the Memphis Invitational tonight as they face the host school at 7 p.m.
