GREEN, Ky.—The UALR volleyball team lost their second Sun Belt
Conference match Friday 3-0 (19-25, 15-25, 17-25) to Western Kentucky. The Trojans fall to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in
conference action.
Katharina
Nobel led the team in kills with ten, while Giuliana De Francesco led the team in
assists with 15 and digs with seven. Emily Pepperman also recorded a team
high of seven digs.
Despite opening the first set on a 2-0 run, the Trojans
recorded the team's lowest attack percentage at .029. The score tied seven times throughout the set
with the last being at 11 on a UALR ball handling error.
After the Trojans regain the lead, Western Kentucky
(13-6, 2-2 SBC) scored four consecutive points to bring the score to 15-12. WKU sustained the team's advantage holding UALR
to 19 points and winning the set on a Trojan service error.
WKU jumped to a 3-0 lead in set two, before UALR scored
the first point on a Lady Topper service error.
The Trojans never held the lead, while WKU used a four-point run in the
final points to win the set 25-15.
The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in set three on a kill by
Nobel, before a kill by Emily Teegarden tied the score. Another Lady Topper kill gave WKU the lead.
WKU scored as many as four consecutive points while
holding UALR to 17 points. The Lady
Toppers won the set and match with a 25-17 score.
UALR continues Sun Belt Conference action on Sunday as
the team travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to face Middle Tennessee. Match is set for 1 p.m.
